MUSSELBURGH review  By Gordon Brown

Paul Mulrennan was in great form at Musselburgh as he rode a hat-trick in the first three races on Circus Lion, Kelpie Grey and Zaphea.

The opening two legs were trained by Bryan Smart and Jim Goldie respectively while Iain Jardine saddled Zaphea before her victory in the Weatherbys Global Stallion App Handicap over five-furlongs.

“We got her last autumn so she’s been with us as we minded her during the winter,” Jardine said.

“She was a bit buzzy when she ran at Ayr on Monday as she raced with the choke out.

“I’d say she is a five-furlong sprinter but she could do quite well for us.

We’ve made really good start to the year on the Flat and that’s our 20th winner.”

George Boughey recorded his first Musselburgh win when Billy Loughnane struck aboard Giorgio M in the Jewson Edinburgh Craigentinny Handicap.

“The first-time tongue-tie helped but he did the job nicely,” said the winning trainer.
